EME NAKIA
To coincide with the release of "Threes" on October 24th, we will also be releasing a special edition version of the record that will include the movie "Eme Nakia".

The word Eme means Mother in Arabic, and Nakia was the name of Tony's mother. The film grew out of a desire for the band to make a movie while recording their third album. Jim suggested telling the story of Tony's remarkable personal history: He was born in Beirut, Lebanon and at the age of 5, along with his family, fled his country during the Lebanese civil war of 1975-1990. They immigrated to the United States, settling in the sprawling west Texas border town of El Paso. When Hajjar was fourteen his Eme died after a bout with cancer and his father, who had been distant, left the family. His brother, only 18-years old at the time, assumed responsibility for the family and raised Tony and his sister. In the film, we follow Tony's early life story, showing his challenges and ending with him in present-day.

Sparta is about to embark on a full US tour in support of their forthcoming album, and we want you to be there! We are taking along our friends Sound Team (from Austin, TX myspace.com/soundteam). SPARTA BEGINS THE COUNTDOWN TO THREES

We are currently gearing up for the October 24th release of our new album, THREES. We're staying busy by rehearsing and getting ready for all the work ahead.
